Dictation Is Unavailable or Stops Working
What to check when the microphone button for browser dictation is missing, disabled, or unreliable.
Published October 16, 2026
AXB Chat Dictation uses your browser's built-in speech-recognition support.
It is separate from AXB realtime Voice.
If the dictation button is unavailable
Your browser may not support the required speech-recognition feature.
Try a supported, current browser and make sure the browser is allowed to use your microphone.
If dictation stops after a pause
AXB attempts to continue through normal pauses in speech, but browser speech recognition is controlled partly by the browser and device.
If recognition stops unexpectedly:
- Keep any text that was already captured.
- Stop Dictation if it still appears active.
- Start Dictation again.
- Review the text before pressing Send.
If accuracy is poor
Dictation is intended as a quick speech-to-text tool.
For exact measurements, model numbers, serial numbers, or technical terminology, review the text carefully before sending it.
You can also switch to typed Chat or realtime Voice when that works better for the task.
