Understanding Work Order Statuses
Use work-order statuses consistently so the Dashboard reflects what is really happening in the shop.

Work-order status should describe the current operational state of the repair.
Intake
The job has been received and is still in the initial intake or evaluation stage.
Awaiting Approval
The shop is waiting for customer authorization before continuing.
In Progress
Work has started and the repair is actively moving forward.
Use this when the job is underway but is not necessarily sitting on the bench at this moment.
On the Bench
The instrument is in active hands-on work.
Use this for current bench work rather than as a general replacement for In Progress.
Waiting for Parts
The repair cannot continue normally because required parts are not available yet.
On Hold
The job has a real blocker or has been intentionally paused.
Routine time between work sessions does not automatically mean the repair should be On Hold.
Ready for Pickup
Repair work is finished and the instrument is ready to be returned to the customer.
Done
The repair has been completed and closed out.
Cancelled
The work order will not be completed.
Dashboard behavior
The Dashboard groups active statuses to make shop workload easier to read.
Open work excludes Done and Cancelled. An open Bench Session is tracked separately from the work-order status, so a session can still need attention even if the status itself has not changed.
