Start, Take a Break, and Resume a Bench Session

Open a repair work session, pause hands-on work safely, and return to it later.

Published October 16, 2026

A Bench Session records a period of hands-on work on one repair.

A work order can have multiple sessions, so you do not need to finish the entire repair in one sitting.

Start a session

  1. Open the work order.
  2. Choose Start Session near the order tabs.
  3. AXB opens the session for that work order.

If the order already has an unfinished session, AXB uses Resume Session instead of creating another one.

What belongs in a Bench Session

During the session you can capture information such as:

  • Measurements
  • Repair findings
  • Observations
  • Work performed
  • Issues discovered during the repair
  • Parts information
  • Follow-up items
  • Research or reference information
  • Photos and files
  • Bench Assistant chat or voice conversation

Take a Break

Choose Take Break when you are stopping hands-on work but are not finished with the session.

While the session is on break:

  • Bench Assistant chat is disabled
  • Voice is disconnected
  • Manual session notes are disabled
  • The session remains open in the repair history

The Dashboard can show the session as On Break.

Resume the session

Choose Resume when you return to the repair.

Resuming the Bench Session does not automatically restart realtime Voice. Start Voice again only when you want to use it.

Break vs Pause Voice

These are different controls.

  • Take Break pauses the Bench Session itself.
  • Pause voice disconnects realtime Voice without putting the Bench Session on break.

Use Pause voice when you want to keep working in the session but do not need a live voice connection.
