Start a New Intake

Use Shop Assistant Intake to turn a customer conversation into an organized client, instrument, and work-order record.

Published October 16, 2026

Intake helps you capture a customer conversation without stopping to fill out every field manually.

Start Intake

  1. Open the Dashboard.
  2. Open Shop Assistant.
  3. Choose New Intake.
  4. Talk or type through the customer's instrument and repair concerns.
  5. Review the Intake Draft as AXB organizes the information.

You can correct information conversationally before records are created.

For example, if the wrong model was captured, tell Intake the corrected model. The latest correction replaces the earlier draft value.

What Intake organizes

Intake keeps different kinds of repair information separate.

Known Issues / Symptoms

Use this for facts reported by the customer or observed during intake.

Examples:

  • Intermittent output
  • G string buzzes above the 10th fret
  • Tuning feels unstable
  • Pickup output is uneven

Scope of Work

Use this for work the customer is actually requesting or the shop has agreed to perform.

Examples:

  • Full setup
  • Replace output jack
  • Diagnose intermittent signal
  • Level and dress frets

Suggestions from the assistant are kept separate from customer-reported facts and are not automatically added to the work order.

Prepare the records

When the draft looks right, choose Prepare records.

AXB prepares one record at a time in this order:

  1. Client
  2. Instrument
  3. Work Order

Each proposed record is shown for review before anything is created.

Review cards provide Cancel, Edit, and Confirm controls. Confirming a card creates that specific record.

A spoken or typed "yes" by itself does not create records. The on-screen confirmation is the commit step.

Possible duplicates

Before creating a client or instrument, AXB can show possible existing matches.

Choose the existing record when it is the same customer or instrument, or choose to create a new one when it is not.

AXB never automatically merges a possible match.

After the work order is created

You can:

  • Open order
  • Start another intake
  • Return to Workspace

Creating the order does not automatically start a Bench Session.
